One of the long-running debates in India’s telecom sector is billionaire Elon Musk’s plan to launch satellite internet services in the country. Virtually since the Corona pandemic, it has been heard that Musk’s company SpaceX has ventured to launch its Starlink internet service in India. The news has already surfaced that they are talking to the central government about this. In that case, it looks like Starlink is going to get the green signal from the government in this regard within a few weeks.
SpaceX has not responded to any questions regarding the matter at this time. However, close sources claim that the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) may issue a Letter of Intent (LoI) for Starlink. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) is satisfied with the clarification provided by Starlink and they will soon get approval by the government.
From the updates available for now, it can be assumed that Starlink is finally going to get the necessary clearance to launch satellite communication services in India. However, in this case, they do not have the advantage of scoring goals in empty fields, which means that they are not the only ones who are bringing this service to this country. Jio Satellite Communications and more companies are already in line.
